Frequently Asked Questions
Placing an Order:
Which Pierrot chair is right for me?
As the product that launched Pierrot Studio, our handpainted children’s chairs remain our signature product. To make ordering your chair as easy as possible, we offer three levels of customisation to match all budgets, gifting deadlines and creative vision!
Ready to Shop: Painted in advance and held in stock, our Ready to Shop chairs can be personalised and shipped within two weeks. Sixteen playful designs with varying levels of decoration are available to personalise with a name and date of your choice. Explore our Ready to Shop chairs.
Design Your Own: For those looking for a completely unique chair, our Design Your Own chairs are painted to order with your choice name, date, colours and decorative motifs. Choose one of our six core designs as a starting point before customising from our palette of colours and menu of playful motifs. Start designing your unique chair.
One of a Kind: The sky's the limit for those wanting to shop ‘off menu’ and order a chair using our One of a Kind bespoke chair service. Tailored entirely to you, work hand in hand with our creative team to bring your chair to life. After discussing your ideas we provide a digital mock up for approval before your chair is painted by hand in our studio. Get in touch to discuss your bespoke chair.
Every chair, including our Ready to Shop stock is painted entirely by hand, in our East Sussex studio.
Which products can I customise?
Whilst our chairs offer the greatest breadth of customisation, you can also add a personal touch to our tables by selecting custom colours and to our name plaques by adding your child’s name and favourite icons. Our hairbrushes can be personalised by adding your child’s name or initial.
Can you colour match?
Unfortunately we are unable to colour match our paints. All of our product customisation is offered with a palette of twelve colours to choose from. When ordering using our One of a Kind service we can decorate items using colours outside of our standard twelve colour palette, but will not be able to provide exact colour matches. Our studio palette is extensive and we are confident we will have a shade which suits all projects.
Are there any limitations to your One of a Kind bespoke decoration?
We welcome unique ideas and whilst we are happy to add any level of decoration requested, we do encourage customers to choose one of our core designs as a starting point for their bespoke chair. This way we are able to weave your personal details - favourite pets, toys or significant places, around our signature Pierrot decorative flourishes. We have painted some truly unique pieces over the years - please see our One of a Kind gallery for inspiration, and click here to read more about placing an order using our One of a Kind service.
Can you match the artwork design of my chair to a previous order?
Whilst all product images on the website display our current designs, we have evolved our core chair designs over the years. If you have purchased a chair previously and would like the decoration on your new chair to match, we can do this on request, for an additional fee. Please email hello@pierrotstudio.com after placing your order to make this request. Please note that some chairs in our One of a Kind gallery contain additional decorative details and that these will not be included on any standard chair order. The images in this gallery are to display the breadth of customisation possible on our bespoke One of a Kind chairs only.
The structural design of our Pierrot chair was updated in 2023 to the current design, as shown on the website. The differences are minor but we are not able to supply the previous chair design as it is no longer in production.
Can I see a preview of my design?
We do not offer design previews on our Ready to Shop or Design Your Own chairs. If however you choose to place your order using our One of a Kind service, you will receive a digital mock up for approval as part of the design process. Click here to read more about our One of a Kind chairs.
Do you offer gift wrapping?
Yes - for a small additional charge we can add a bow to the rush seat of your chair before shipping and include a gift note, either handwritten by our team or left blank for you to add a personal message. Both ribbons and gift notes can be added to your order at checkout.
Do you offer trade discounts?
No, we are not able to offer trade discounts at this time.
Materials and Durability:
What materials do you use for your products?
Our Pierrot chairs are made from 100% solid beech wood with a natural rush seat and our tables are a combination of a wood fibre table top and 100% solid beech wood legs. Our hairbrushes, by Mason Pearson are made from cellulose acetate, natural dry rubber and a mixture of nylon and boar bristles and our name plaques are made from 100% tulip wood.
Are your products environmentally friendly?
We seek to source sustainable materials and work with responsible suppliers to this end. The Pierrot Studio team use water based, non-toxic paints and varnishes for chairs, tables and name plaques and we use Humbrol enamel paints for greater durability on our hairbrushes.
What age is your furniture appropriate for?
Our chairs are designed to be enjoyed by children up to age six. Our tables, name plaques and hairbrushes can be enjoyed by all ages!
Are your chairs and tables sturdy enough to stand on?
We do not recommend standing on furniture for health and safety reasons.
How should I care for my chair/ plaque/ hairbrush?
Chairs, plaques and hairbrushes can be gently cleaned with a damp cloth or water wipes. Care should be taken not to rub artwork with excessive force. Artwork on our name plaques, hairbrushes and high-use areas of our chairs is protected with a matte varnish to encourage longevity, though inevitably knocks, nicks and scratches will likely occur over time. For more stubborn marks a little cream cleaner on a damp cloth is also effective, again taking care not to rub too hard.
Do you offer repair service if my furniture is damaged?
We offer a two year warranty on the structure of our chairs and will repair damage occurring through normal use of the product. To repair damage to painted artwork we can supply touch up paints for chairs and plaques for a small fee and postage.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards through our online payment gateway. We are also able to accept card payments over the phone or we can provide bank details upon request. Please note we do not accept payment by cheque. All invoices are raised in GBP. For bank transfers any applicable fees or currency charges are the responsibility of the customer.
